The Future

I have created a world in which I think will be the future of energy drinks. This world is thought of to be crazy because I believe by 2040 companies will start or be created where energy drinks will have undetectable steroids. Everyone who already drinks energy drinks will start to feel the effects of it but others will not understand why their are people suddenly getting bigger at a much quicker rate or being able to push their body significantly harder than they are aware of.

The United States has the "highest per capita volume consumption of energy drinks in the world in 2022." It was an "average of 27.5 liters per person", this number only fuels more companies to advertise their energy drinks in the states because they will most likely have success even in a red ocean if advertised properly. A big reason behind that number are people using it to "enhance physical and cognitive performance." 

SkyQuest's research says that the target demographic using energy drinks are people between the ages of 18 to 35, "19.4% of young adults and 33.0% of athletes drink energy drinks daily." The biggest group of people using energy drinks are people who are trying to get stronger or be able to push their body harder, a way for sales to grow in this $193.2 billion industry (energy and sports drink industry) would be adding what most of their customers are looking for a easier way to get their dream physique or allow them to work past their bodies limits.

My prediction of steroids in energy drinks in the future will in tale small dosages of testosterone in all currently energy drink brands and new ones to come because they are currently considered "the safest oral steroid and is available in both oral and injectable forms."

Above is an ad I believe could be real in the future where energy drinks will be advertised to young adults like they are now with the implication that they will be able to enhance their bodies through drinking energy drinks frequently. This ad would mostly be advertised on social media and gyms to gain attention from the target audience.

The steroids would not take effect immediately due to how small of a dosage each 16 oz can would have but there are some individuals who do drink more than one energy drink a day and that could allow for results to be seen a lot sooner than expected. The gyms will be full of bulked bodybuilders with semi natural bodies.  

Is it legal?

It is illegal to possess testosterone without a prescription in New York, but since the dosage is so low most test would not be able to detect it (hypothetical). "Anabolic steroids are a Schedule II substance in New York. Anabolic steroids defined as schedule II substances include 'any drug or hormonal substance, chemically and pharmacologically related to testosterone (other than estrogens, progestins, corticosteroids and dehydroepiandrosterone).'"  The quantity is also taken into consideration when deciding on how to charge said [person, the drinks would contain such a small dosage that it would not be reasonable to stop every person with an energy drink.

Energy drinks would not be illegal themselves but if they were to be detected "Possessing any amount of a controlled substance unlawfully. Penalties can include up to 1 year in jail, probation, and/or a fine of up to $1,000." (7th degree [misdemeanor]) Possession of larger quantities could be considered a 4th degree (class C felony) with penalties ranging "from 1 to 5.5 years in prison, probation, and/or fine of up to $30,000."  

This will be the new way of energy drinks
